After completing the Business Administration program at NAIT and earning degrees in Commerce, Arts, and Law from the University of Alberta, he was called to the Alberta Bar in1991. Following his articles with Sirrs Watson Deckert Allen, he joined the firm as an associate and became a partner in 1994. In 2014, he was appointed Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) in recognition of his professional achievements and service to the community.

His practice reflects the tradition of the firm’s founders, encompassing a broad range of legal services, including corporate and commercial transactions, estate planning and administration, residential and commercial real estate, limited criminal defence, and divorce and matrimonial property matters. He takes pride in developing lasting relationships with clients and providing practical, effective advice tailored to their individual needs.

Outside of his legal practice, he enjoys a wide variety of interests, including music, food and wine, travel, photography, boating, fly fishing, vintage typewriters, and classic Triumph sports cars. A passionate cyclist, he has participated in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer and numerous fundraising cycling tours supporting child and adolescent mental health initiatives and other charitable causes. Although cycling remains his preferred form of endurance sport, he has also competed as a team member in both the Sinister 7 Ultra Relay and the Canadian Death Race.

Community involvement has always been an important part of his life. Over the years, he has served on numerous boards and organizations, including the University of Alberta Faculty of Law Dean’s Advisory Board, the Wetaskiwin Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Business Revitalization Zone, Main Street Development, the Wetaskiwin Child Care Society, and the Wetaskiwin and District Community Association. He is also a charter member of the Rotary Club of Wetaskiwin, where he served as Director of International Service.

Whether assisting clients, supporting community organizations, or participating in charitable fundraising events, he remains committed to making a positive contribution both professionally and personally.
